October House began very quietly with my knitting designs. In October 2013 we added hand dyed fiber, and we launched our Etsy shop. Shortly after, we began hand dyeing yarn and creating patterns for our yarns. We've now grown to include cross stitch designs, a lot of which feature knitting themes.
Each October House yarn fills a need or a desire I had for a particular yarn. I tend to prefer knitting with finer gauge yarns most of the time, so you'll notice we offer several of those. It's always interesting to see how a color looks on different bases.
My knitting patterns tend to be those things I am looking to make or wear. I prefer simple over complicated, spare over fussy, and practical over complex. As an inveterate sock knitter, I'm always dreaming up new sock designs!
Our yarns are gently hand dyed in small batches using all the care and love we can supply. Each skein passes through our hands several times before heading out into the world, so you can be sure you are getting the best quality product we can provide.
Our cross stitch designs grew out of a love of knitting and yarn, but also include samplers, seasonal and floral designs. Our kits are put together here in our studio with a lot of care and love.
We ply our trade in our little home studio in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas.
