There's something about a row of houses tucked up in the trees that makes me think of the new school year. Maybe it's all those years I walked to school down a tree-lined street with charming little brick houses. And that was a lot of years ago!
Anyway, every time I look at this little pillow, which at the moment is resting on a wooden box (which could be a pencil box) behind a wooden ruler that has the Golden Rule on it - I think of a new school year. And then, in my mind's nose, I smell new erasers, pencil shavings, chalk dust, etc.
Boy, I'm really dating myself now, aren't I? Do kids today even know about pencils and erasers and chalk? I fear not.
That's not really the point though, is it? I've gone a-wandering a bit. This little cutie is also stitched with Gentle Art's wool threads. (Which sends me down a different rabbit hole thinking about woolen's and woolly-ness.) But they give small designs like this a great texture.

Supporting our cross stitch shops and community is a primary concern for me, so I always encourage you to purchase my designs from your favorite local or online needlework shop. It's for this reason that you won't see my newest designs available for sale on my own website for a few months after they are released.
